Police with the assistance of specialist units have located and arrested a man in possession of weapons and drugs in Torquay overnight.
Patrolling Torquay officers came across a man slumped in the front seat of a white Ford station wagon parked on Messmate road about 1.45am this morning.
After sighting an alleged rifle in the vehicle foot-well, specialist unit officers forced entry to the locked car and arrested the sole occupant without incident.
A further search of the car by police located three home-made knuckle dusters, a taser, and quantities of methamphetamine and cannabis.
A 35-year-old Mount Dunned man was conveyed to a local police station where he was charged with possess imitation firearm, prohibited weapon and drug offences.
The man was bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 20 September.
