Man shot, second assaulted during home invasion at Lismore, NSW

Two men have been injured during a home invasion on the state’s north coast overnight.

About 11pm (Friday 22 June 2019), three men, armed with a sawn-off rifle and knives, forced entry to a unit on Airforce Road at Lismore, and confronted five people inside.

The trio ransacked the room and threatened the occupants, demanding cash, wallets and mobile phones.

A 30-year-old male occupant was assaulted, hit over the head with a beer bottle. A 46-year-old man was shot in the leg.

Shortly after, the three men left the house and fled.

Emergency services were called and officers from Richmond Police District attended.

Paramedics attended, and both men were taken to Lismore base Hospital for further treatment. They remain in a stable condition and their injuries are not considered life threatening.

A crime scene has been established and detectives are investigating the incident, which is believed to be targeted.

Investigators would like to speak to three men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The men are described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in their late teens to early twenties, wearing dark clothing and with their faces covered.
