Man struck with sword and woman charged at Liverpool, NSW

A woman has been charged after a man was allegedly struck with a Samuari sword during a dispute in Liverpool overnight.

During the evening of Saturday 25 May 2019, a 23-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were in a unit on Charles Street.

About 11.30pm the woman left the unit, and the man followed a short time later.

Outside the apartment the two had a further confrontation and the man threw a brick at the woman who produced a Samurai sword.

The man ran from the area until he stopped in a common area of the units to speak with an acquaintance.

At this time the 29-year-old woman approached the man and allegedly swung the sword at this head.

The man raised his right arm to protect his head and the blade struck the forearm causing a deep laceration.

The woman walked away, and the man ran to the Hume Highway where he was able to flag down a passing ambulance. The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition for treatment to his arm.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were contacted and attended a short time later.

Police established a crime scene and located the woman in a nearby unit where she was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

She was later charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 26 May 2019).
