A man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for multiple offences has been charged in the state’s Central West.
About 8.10pm yesterday (Thursday 16 May 2024), officers attached to Orange Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Subaru on Whiley Road, Milthorpe, to speak with a man.
When it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. Officers successfully deployed road spikes where the vehicle came to a stop on William Street and the driver fled on foot.
A short time later police located the man hiding on a property. He was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.
During a search of the car police located cash and crystalised substance believed to be methylamphetamine.
The man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, class A m/v exceed speed > 45 km/h, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and five counts of possess prohibited drug.
Police also executed three outstanding arrest warrants for property, drug, firearm, weapons and traffic-related offences.
He was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Friday 17 May 2024).
