The Crisafulli Government is inviting Queensland women over 40, who want to make a fresh start in the workforce, to apply for a place in the Future Women Jobs Academy 2025 cohort.
The Future Women Jobs Academy provides targeted, online training, mentorship, and resources to help women gain the skills and confidence they need to return to the workforce and achieve their career goals.
As part of their commitment to women’s economic security, and a strong economic future for Queensland, the Crisafulli Government is giving up to 250 women the chance to participate in Jobs Academy 2025.
Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security, Fiona Simpson MP said it’s an investment that’s good for women, good for the community and good for Queensland.
“More women in the workforce is good for the Queensland economy. It leads to higher productivity and a more diverse labour market, and all the benefits that come with that – innovation, better decision-making, unique perspectives, and a rich workplace culture,” said Minister Simpson.
“The gender pay gap is real, we know women retire with nearly 20 per cent less superannuation than men on average, and 30 per cent of women will need to rely on their partner’s income in retirement. Women also account for three in five people accessing government-funded specialist homelessness services.
“The Crisafulli Government made an election commitment to invest $20 million over four years to support women returning to the workforce, and we look forward to launching this initiative in 2025.
“By closing the gender pay gap, this Government aims to enrich our communities, strengthen our economy and build a more equal environment where everyone is valued.”
Future Women Founder and Managing Director Helen McCabe said the program – which is in its second year and completely free to participants – has been highly successful.
“Since we launched the Academy, it’s become obvious that there are hundreds of thousands of women across the nation who are highly skilled and ready to return to paid work and we’re proud to offer a program that provides support tailored to their needs.
“Through Jobs Academy, Queensland will boost women’s workforce participation while also addressing chronic labour and skills shortages,” she said.

Queensland Women’s Week dates announced
Queensland Women’s Week will be held from Sunday 2 March to Sunday 9 March 2025.
‘March Forward’ is the theme for 2025, inviting Queenslanders to make significant strides in achieving global gender equality.
Organisations, schools, businesses, workplaces, clubs and community groups are encouraged to get involved and list their events on the Queensland Women website.
