The Board of the Australian Institute of Company Directors today announced Mark Rigotti MAICD as the organisation’s next Managing Director & CEO.
Mr Rigotti comes to the AICD having recently retired as a partner of Herbert Smith Freehills, where he held senior leadership roles, most notably as their Global Chief Executive from 2014 to 2020. He has been the Chair of Redkite, a national children’s cancer charity, since 2021 having served on its board since 2010.
AICD Chair John Atkin FAICD said “Mark has a demonstrated capacity to lead major organisations through transformational change. He has very relevant experience as a non-executive director, particularly in the not-for-profit sector. His involvement with some of our key stakeholders including the Business Council of Australia, Australia Korea and European Australian Business Councils and the University of Sydney will prove invaluable. Mark is the right person to be leading the AICD in the next stage of its development and growth.”
Mr Rigotti said: “I am excited to join the AICD, to help it move forward from its position of strength and to achieve its purpose of strengthening society through world-class governance.”
“I am looking forward to meeting members, our stakeholders and staff and working with the team to deliver an even stronger organisation that delivers more value for members and an even more engaging environment for staff. The AICD’s world-leading education program will continue to transform and adapt to the evolving governance environment.”
Angus Armour FAICD, the AICD’s current CEO, who announced last October that he would not be extending his 5-year term following his commencement in October 2017, will continue in the role until early September to enable a smooth transition to Mr Rigotti who will commence employment in late July.
