The Sydney Business Chamber says the new Martin Place Metro Station will be a turning point for commuters, business and CBD workers and perhaps change the way we look and interact with public transport.
Chris Lamont, Director of Policy and Advocacy for the NSW Business Chamber, said, “When complete, the Martin Place Metro Station will provide improved accessibility for CBD workers and reshape the precinct into a new retail and commercial hotspot.
“The investment will deliver a public transport hub and provide far greater amenity for commuters and visitors to the Sydney CBD,” Mr Lamont said.
“This development provides an opportunity to reimagine how commuters and business interact with public transport and provides a vision of what we might expect to come for future Metro Stations in Sydney.
“Commercial buildings and new retail space above the station will reimagine the heart of the city and will revamp the public domain at Martin Place.
“The Chamber has stressed the importance of continued engagement with local businesses and commuters during construction so as to minimise disruption and improve outcomes from this investment.
“With thousands of commuters travelling into the CBD daily, this new station should take pressure off the existing rail lines and reduce the heavy reliance on buses, easing up congestion on roads,” Mr Lamont said.
