Mayor Anne Baker is calling on Federal Election candidates in Capricornia to give a vote of confidence to the Isaac region.
“This Council is absolutely committed to advocating for the communities of the Isaac,” she said.
“We are a proud resources and agricultural region, our communities are home to proud mining and farming families, and we are absolutely proud of the role our region is playing in helping to energise the world.
“Likewise, it is vital that we have voices in Canberra who share that outlook and genuinely respect and appreciate the challenges we face in a region stretching over 58,000sq km from the coast to the coalfields.
“The Isaac community deserves a Member for Capricornia who is prepared to advocate strongly on behalf of this region on the floor of parliament and in the corridors of power.
“We want a fair go for a region which is responsible for creating much of the nation’s wealth and prosperity through our rich resources.
“With this support we can continue to deliver on our region’s vision to help energise the world as a region which is feeding, powering and building communities.”
