Students from Year 3 to 6 heard from Cr Binks who provided an interesting insight into leadership and local government.
“I was incredibly pleased to be invited to speak with Euroa Primary School students about leadership,” Cr Binks said.
“The students asked very insightful questions and I hope many of them were inspired to become community leaders of the future.”
Euroa Primary School Year 3-4 Classroom Teacher Angela White said the experience was beneficial to students.
“The students built on their knowledge of Civics and Citizenship which is part of the Victorian Curriculum,” Miss White said.
“The students have been learning about the different roles of the Federal, State and Local government.”
Students learned about Mayoral and Councillor allowances, election processes, council meetings and Council’s services to the community as well as the development of important documents that drive Council’s work.
Year 4 student Ella Torr said her favourite part about the visit was finding out what the Mayor is responsible for.
Year 3 student Oliver Ashley said they learned about the different levels of government.
“My favourite part was when we asked good questions and the mayor put in effort to answer the questions,” he said.
Year 3 student Charlie Sheridan said they Q&A session was also the best part of the visit.
Miss White said the school captains and student representative council were able to listen and discuss pathways for local leadership and what the job involves.
“It was an inspiring discussion for the Euroa Primary School students,” she said.
