Plastic Free July is showing how small steps can make a big difference as residents and businesses take the challenge to reduce plastic pollution this month.
A range of events and initiatives are taking place across Hobsons Bay to encourage people to avoid single-use plastics in July and beyond.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Last year, an estimated 89 million people worldwide took the challenge, reducing their general household waste by 900 million kilos, and their recyclable waste by 700 million kilos.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Matt Tyler (pictured), has accepted the challenge, and has replaced single-use coffee cups with a keep cup for the month.
