The Mayor Maree Statham made a visit to two local aged care facilities this week to spread some Christmas cheer.
The annual Mayor’s Christmas visit raises awareness of the rights of those members of our community who live in aged care facilities, and also aims to help make their Christmas more festive.
This year, the Mayor recognised the good work of Three Tree Lodge, Tabulam Cottage and Lithgow Aged Care. She drew particular attention to the respect that workers of these facilities showed to residents and the importance of resident’s dignity, autonomy, and the right not to be treated in a degrading way.
Gifts were distributed by the Mayor to the residents of Three Tree Lodge and Tabulam Cottage. At the request of Respect Aged Care Facility, 2 Christmas trees and decorations were provided in lieu of presents.
