Highway Patrol officers impounded a vehicle after they detected it being driven at 157km/hr in Meckering yesterday, Friday 1 November 2024.
About 5:10pm, Highway Patrol officers were conducting high visibility traffic patrols of Great Eastern Highway, when about 2km west of the Meckering townsite they detected a purple Ford Falcon sedan being driven at 157km/hr in the 110km/hr speed zone.
The vehicle was stopped, and it was established it was being driven by a 19-year-old man who holds a Provisional (P plate) Licence. The vehicle was also found to have bald rear tyres.
The vehicle was impounded for 28 days and the driver will be charged by summons in relation to reckless driving.
