The Albanese Government has honoured an important election commitment to the people of Logan – delivering a brand new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic at the Browns Plains Medical & Dental Centre.
The clinic which began operating today, is open extended hours, seven days a week, easing pressure on Logan Hospital.
Highly trained doctors and nurses will provide care, with no need for an appointment.
More than 22 per cent of current emergency department cases presenting at Logan Hospital are classified as semi or non-urgent.
The Medicare UCCs will ease this pressure, leaving hospitals to concentrate on higher-priority emergencies.
The Logan Medicare UCC delivers on the Albanese Government’s commitment to make it easier for the community to get the urgent treatment they need while taking pressure off hospitals.
A total of 11 Medicare UCCs will open across Queensland by the end of the year including in Bundaberg, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Cairns, Southern Brisbane, Northern Brisbane, Gold Coast, Redcliffe, Townsville and Toowoomba.
