Mayor Neil Reilly has this morning hosted a visit to Kiama from new Illawarra-Shoalhaven City Commissioner Jacki Johnson.
Cr Reilly and Ms Johnson were able to discuss the opportunities for our municipality presented by the recently-established Greater Cities Commission.
The discussion included priorities such as improved east-west linkages as highlighted by the closure of Jamberoo Mountain Road.
The need for increased engagement with our First Nations communities was also raised.
The Greater Cities Commission, which reports to the NSW Government, has been charged with creating Australia’s first global city region, delivering global economic scale and local liveability.
The Six Cities region includes the Illawarra-Shoalhaven City, the Lower Hunter and Greater Newcastle City, the Central Coast City, the Western Parkland City, the Central River City and the Eastern Harbour City.
