Melbourne Chamber Orchestra is set to bring its scintillating chamber music to Red Cliffs and Ouyen this month as part of the orchestra’s ongoing partnership with Mildura Arts Centre.
Led by distinguished violinist Elizabeth Sellars who has enjoyed a stellar international career as both a performer and teacher, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform Kerry and the Mozart Quintets on the following dates:

Each performance runs for 60 minutes. Tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for Concession Card holders, $25 for students and $10 for children 16 and under.
Councillor for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Healy said this was a unique opportunity brought about by MAC’s strong partnership with Melbourne’s preeminent professional chamber orchestra.
“Rather than classical-music lovers from some of our smaller towns needing to travel to Melbourne, or even just Mildura, MAC and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra are coming to them,” Cr Healy said.
“This demonstrates the Orchestra’s strong commitment to the regions, and Mildura in particular, further reinforced by the return of the full orchestra to Mildura in 2023.”
Described as ‘a searching work filled with touching pathos, which dissolves into effervescent rapture in the finale’ Mozart wrote his fourth quintet in 1787 when he was at the height of his fame, and less than five years from his early death.
This month’s visit by the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will also include a master class for local music students.

Elizabeth Sellars has enjoyed a distinguished career as both performer and teacher in Australia and throughout the UK, Europe and Asia. Her CD The Messiaen Nexus (with Kenji Fujimura) won the 2014 Limelight Chamber Music Recording of the Year. After 16 years as lecturer in Violin at Monash University, Elizabeth now teaches privately and at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music while continuing to record and perform.
