The daughter of a woman murdered at her Salisbury workplace in 1993 has today thanked police and the public in the wake of an arrest made on Friday.
In a hand-written message released by SA Police today, Melissa Poll said she wanted to thank the member of the public for all “the loving messages to myself and family”.
She also thanked the police for their efforts.
“Please know that we are all still in great shock and experiencing the grief and pain as if it happened all over again,” she wrote in her brief message.
Ms Poll also released a family snapshot of her mother with her and her brother, Adam.
The 46-year-old man who was arrested is being extradited to South Australia and is expected to be formally charged with murder during an appearance in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Police said the man was arrested on Friday following a breakthrough in the case in relation to familial DNA work undertaken by Forensic Science South Australia.
Mrs Poll was counting the takings at the Sands & McDougall Shop in John Street, Salisbury about 9pm on Thursday 29 April 1993 when a man entered the business. She was attacked, tried to flee to a back room at the premises and was stabbed to death.
