A Middleton man was arrested yesterday after allegedly trying to import the highly toxic drug fentanyl.
On Wednesday 3 April, detectives from the South Australian Joint Agency Ice Strike Team (JAIST) and SAPOL’s Serious and Organised Crime Branch arrested a 55-year-old Middleton man in South Australia. He was charged with trafficking in a controlled drug.
It will be alleged he tried to import approximately one gram of fentanyl from overseas via the post.
The man was bailed to appear in the Victor Harbor Magistrates Court on 6 May.
Fentanyl is highly toxic synthetic opioid and can be absorbed into the body through skin contact, inhalation or ingestion. Any suspected opioid overdose requires urgent medical assistance and the public are urged not to wait but seek help immediately.
