Sporting competitions, guided tours, live entertainment and a kick-to-kick under lights will headline a special Community Day at the Mildura Sporting Precinct – regional Victoria’s newest multipurpose facility.
The Community Day, which will run from 9am to 2pm on Sunday 12 December, will help mark the MSP’s official opening, following a formal event on Friday 10 December.
“There’s going to be something for everyone,” MSP precinct manager Don Harley said regarding the Community Day.
“Competitions, food and drinks, kids’ activities – this is going to be a great opportunity for our community to come and experience the precinct first-hand.
“The feedback we’ve received from user groups so far has been extremely positive, and now it’s the wider community’s turn to shoot a few hoops, tour the facility, and enjoy themselves in a COVID-Safe way.”
Mayor Cr Liam Wood said the Community Day would be split into two parts, with guided tours, AFL, cricket, netball, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer competitions and food and drinks to be available from 9am to 2pm.
“Then from 7pm to 9pm we’re going to turn the lights on and encourage the community to come and have a kick of the footy on the premier oval,” he said.
“We’re really excited to see the precinct operational following an easing of COVID restrictions.
“This is our community’s chance to enjoy a great day of fun and games, while also getting to see the action and experience the atmosphere at Mildura Sporting Precinct.”
Those attending the Community Day must provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination status upon entry, and comply with all relevant COVID-19 directions.
