Community members are invited to come together on the 2nd July and enjoy a jam-packed day of family fun, shopping and food to celebrate the completion of the revitalisation of Miles’ CBD.
The Miles CBD Streetscape project has been in the works since its announcement as part of Western Downs Regional Council’s COVID-19 Recovery Package. To mark the rejuvenation of the town centre, the main street will come alive with a variety of family-friendly activities and events.
The Miles business community are invited to get on-board with the fun by offering their services and events to appeal to those looking for some retail therapy and to boost the local economy.
Mayor Paul McVeigh said that the project’s completion is very exciting for Miles, and that the community celebration will give one of our region’s great small towns the chance to show off its vibrant and exciting new streetscape to residents and visitors.
“Miles might be a small town, but the wonderful residents are justifiably proud of their vibrant, inclusive community which this project celebrates. This event is an opportunity for the community and visitors to enjoy each other’s company in the peaceful surrounds of the updated CBD,” Cr McVeigh said.
“The street revitalisation doesn’t just look good, there are also some fantastic interactive features including an App-guided ‘soundtrails’ for visitors to enjoy and fully immerse themselves in the history of Miles’.
“The ‘soundtrails’ tells the story of the people, places, and industries that make up Miles, and encourages us all to get out, take a walk, learn the history of the area and explore the town by foot.
“Once you’ve explored the ‘sound trail’ there is so much more to enjoy. What would a community celebration be without a breakfast sausage sizzle in Anzac Park? There will also be entertainers and kid’s activities around the CBD throughout the day, local arts and craft market stalls and much more!
“On the Western Downs, it’s the people that make it, and this event is no exception. We have some truly wonderful local businesses in Miles, and this event wouldn’t be possible without their involvement, so be sure to support them by shopping local,” Cr McVeigh said.
“I encourage everyone to head out to Miles on the 2nd July from 9:30am for a great day in one of our region’s wonderful towns.
Council will be partnering with local businesses, including Miles Windsor Hotel Motel, Foodworks, Murilla Hardware Supplies who will be adding their own celebrations, special deals, and promotions to mark the opening of their beautiful new CBD.
