- Global bakery agribusiness ARYZTA breaks ground on its first Western Australian facility in Peel Business Park – Nambeelup Kaadadjan
- New $66 million facility will serve fast food and retail customers, creating between 110 – 130 local jobs once fully operational in 2026
- The investment will remove an estimated 1.7 million food miles currently created by transporting bakery items from the eastern states
Regional Development Minister Don Punch has announced that leading global bakery agribusiness ARYZTA will develop its first Western Australian facility at the Peel Business Park, 10km north-east of Mandurah in the Shire of Murray.
The announcement was made at a groundbreaking ceremony today on the 25,094 square metre land parcel at the Park – also known as Nambeelup Kaadadjan in Noongar language.
It expands on the company’s global bakery network, comprising of 19 bakeries across Europe. It also has operations in a further seven countries that service major fast food and retail customers across the Asia-Pacific.
The new bakery facility will employ between 60 and 80 people during phase one of the development, and a further 50 in phase two, as well as collaborating with South Metropolitan TAFE, once fully operational in 2026.
ARYZTA will bring world-class industrial bakery technology to the facility, which adopts advanced Al-driven quality assurance, robotics, storage and monitoring systems for ingredient quality and biosecurity.
The Swiss-owned company will be a foundation agrifood tenant in the Park – strongly aligned with the $49 million Transform Peel project and Food Innovation Precinct WA – established to drive new industries, create jobs and improve food security through innovation, research and collaboration.
The strategic location of the bakery and close proximity to high quality local raw materials such as wheat and other grains will provide ARYZTA with a significant opportunity to export their products, primarily to the Asian markets.
This new state-of-the-art facility has the potential to attract substantial investment into the food and beverage manufacturing sector in WA.
It will also reduce an estimated 1.7 million food miles currently involved in transporting bakery items to WA customers from ARYZTA’s existing two facilities in New South Wales and Victoria.
The Cook Government is actively developing and strengthening the agribusiness, food and beverage manufacturing sector in the Peel region, through collaboration and partnerships with industry, the Peel Development Commission, DevelopmentWA, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and the Shire of Murray.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:
“It is exciting to see the Transform Peel vision come to life, particularly with a significant international agribusiness choosing to establish its first Western Australian presence in the Peel region.
“Operationally, the bakery development will improve WA’s domestic food processing capability, enabling local production of baked goods that would otherwise be imported into WA.
“The creation of new jobs and training opportunities with the arrival of this new facility is a positive outcome for the region.”
