Million Dollar Road Trip winners in town for grand prize draw

NT Government

The lucky winners of the Million Dollar Road Trip to the NT have arrived in Darwin, eagerly awaiting the chance to win either $10,000 or the ultimate $1 million cash prize.

The competition, launched in partnership between Tourism NT and Caravan Industry Association of Australia (CIAA), was designed to inspire domestic drive travellers to choose the Northern Territory as their holiday destination.

Running from May to September 2024, it offered adventurous Australians the opportunity to explore the NT, incentivising dispersal to our regions by booking at one of our 5 regional Visitor Information Centres.

The winners, Victorian teachers Bec and Flynn Hyslop were announced in September and are now back in the Territory with their family, including the children’s grandmother, for the grand prize draw.

“We’ve had such an incredible time in the NT. Kakadu was unforgettable, and the Yellow Water boat cruise was a highlight,” Bec said.

“We also loved our time at Edith Falls-the campground was perfect, and the swim just a short walk away. Darwin and Uluru were amazing too! We’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to see what happens with the cash prize.”

Throughout their journey, the family explored local accommodations, experiences, and attractions, soaking in the diverse beauty and cultural richness of the Northern Territory.

The Million Dollar Road Trip was promoted through a cooperative marketing campaign, with Tourism NT playing a pivotal role in promoting the competition. The campaign garnered over 55,900 separate unique entries, inspiring travellers from across the country to explore the NT’s iconic landscapes.

The competition has not only delivered unforgettable experiences but has also helped boost local tourism, encouraging more Australians to discover the magic of the Northern Territory.

The grand prize will be drawn at the Darwin Waterfront today.
