Text messages and recorded voice messages will be sent to millions of people across the state at midday on Tuesday, urging Queenslanders to get vaccinated.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the text blast was part of the government’s campaign to ramp up Queensland’s vaccination rollout.
“Getting vaccinated is vital to keeping Queensland safe and protecting our freedoms in this state,” she said.
“On your phone, online, on TV, on radio and in the paper – wherever we can, we’re encouraging Queenslanders to get vaccinated.
“I want to ensure that every Queenslander is given an opportunity to get vaccinated.
“By texting millions of Queenslanders, we’ll reach a lot of people who we might struggle to communicate with in other ways.”
The text will read; “This is a message from Queensland Health. Get your COVID-19 vaccine today. It’s safe, effective and free. Go to . If you’ve already been vaccinated, please encourage your family and friends to do so as well. Thanks Queensland!”
Queenslanders are urged to please not treat the message as spam and block the number.
It is vitally important that the number is not blocked as it is used nationally for emergencies and disasters.
Ms D’Ath said when Queensland receives more vaccines from the Commonwealth, the state would continue to ramp up the state’s rollout.
“Our promotions have worked incredibly well to date,” she said.
“We’ve proven that if we have the vaccines, we can get them in arms quickly, safely and effectively.
“Campaigns like this will give thousands of Queenslanders the extra encouragement they need to protect themselves and their families.
