The Minns Labor Government should immediately make public the recommendations of the leaked report that will determine the future of Eraring Power Station, Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change James Griffin says.
“Every day that this leaked report drips into the media is another day of uncertainty for the energy market, operators and investors in NSW”, said Mr Griffin.
“The media apparently know more about this report than the NSW Cabinet does. It’s another example of governing by review and shady process through which significant decisions are being made about the energy future of this state”.
“Notwithstanding the questions raised about the independence of the report, I fear that this report is setting the groundwork to abolish EnergyCo and tear up a nation leading plan to methodically and carefully transition to renewable energy,” Mr Griffin said.
Households across NSW are now under more pressure and have been left to fend for themselves, as Labor still can’t explain what support they will be providing, how their state-owned energy corporation will function or when it will begin providing relief.
Mr Griffin said, “We are still yet to see meaningful support to help households with their energy costs and this episode from the Minns Government leaking reports simply makes life harder.”
“During the election campaign NSW Labor had a lot to say about their renewable energy credentials, but today we are seeing the beginning of this state going backwards,” Mr Griffin concluded.
