Mino & Co join Tesla revolution

Griffith winery, Mino & Co have become the first local winery to install a Tesla Charging Station in an effort to put Griffith on the map as an Electric Vehicle (EV) destination.

Nick Guglielmino, General Manager of Mino & Co said they have chosen to invest in the charging station in an effort to increase EV tourism in the region, in turn increasing visitors to the Cellar Door.

“What better way to spend your time while charging your car than enjoying a glass of our award winning wine and cheese platters in our vines,” said Mr Guglielmino.

“Our aim is to build a sustainable working environment, and investing in a Tesla Charging Stations is in line with our company philosophy, it promotes a greener footprint on the environment, whilst simultaneously encouraging more visitors to our City and Cellar Door by offering a convenient location for Tesla owners to charge their cars.”

”We have installed two ‘High Speed Tesla Wall Chargers’ which are available for usage during our normal operating hours. With the increase in local tourism it’s already proving an ideal investment and we are happy to provide visitors with a venue to enjoy our local wine and cheese produce amongst the vines on our Estate Vineyard,” he added.

Carrah Lymer, from Riverina Winemakers, said it’s a great addition and service to have available at one of our local wineries.

“Having Tesla Charging Stations available increases the potential to entice a specific audience to visit our region that may not have considered us before on their road trip,” said Ms Lymer.

Griffith Mayor Councillor John Dal Broi said it is great to see tourism operators thinking about the future of tourism in our region.

“Those with electric cars can now have the confidence to place Griffith on their itineraries, assisting with growing our tourism market and injecting more funds into the local economy – research shows that EV use in tourism positively impacts the environment and enhances sustainability for economic and social development,” Councillor Dal Broi said.

Current projections indicate EVs will account for 55% of new car sales by 2040 (BNEF 2018). There is also set to be a major shift in EV ownership from next year when more affordable models become available in Australia.
