Mobile payments now available for Cashless Debit Card participants

From today, Cashless Debit Card holders who bank through Indue will be able to make payments using their smartphone device.

Minister for Families and Social Services and Minister for Women’s Safety, Anne Ruston, said the introduction of mobile payments, also known as a digital wallet, offers participants access to mainstream payment technology in line with other banking customers.

“Mobile payments are easy to set up and offer a safe, secure and private payment method that helps participants avoid handing their payment card to someone else, or touching physical buttons,” Minister Ruston said.

“Every payment is authenticated by facial recognition, fingerprint, or a device passcode, which protects participants against fraud.”

Mobile payments can be accessed using a smartphone device, and will be available through Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay from 7 December 2021.

“We want to make sure the experience for Cashless Debit Card participants is no different to anyone else using their bank or credit card,” Minister Ruston said.

The Government is committed to investing in technological enhancements to continuously improve Cashless Debit Card features and deliver a better user experience for participants and merchants.
