Northam Detectives have charged a man with 17 offences following an investigation into an incident which occurred in Mogumber, about 50km north of Bindoon, yesterday, Friday 19 April 2024.
It will be alleged, about 8.30pm, a 41-year-old man – armed with a rifle – entered a licensed premise on Bindoon-Moora Road.
The man then threatened three staff members, before he discharged one shot from the rifle into the ground.
When a fourth staff member attempted to intervene, he was threatened and assaulted by the man, who then left the scene.
A number of police resources responded to the incident, including Gingin Police, Northam Detectives, Police Air Wing and the Tactical Response Group (TRG).
Following inquiries, about 10.40pm, the man was arrested by TRG officers at an address in New Norcia.
He was charged with;
• Aggravated burglary and commit on a place
• Threatened to kill (three counts)
• Deprivation of liberty (three counts)
• Discharged a firearm to the danger of, or in a manner to cause fear to, the public or any person
• Unlicensed person possess firearm/ammunition (two counts)
• Pointed firearm at another person (four counts)
• Criminal damage or destruction of property
• Common assault
• Re-enter licensed premises
The 41-year-old is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Saturday 20 April 2024.
