The Tasmanian Liberal Government continues to support our thriving arts and events sectors, including the extraordinary Mona Foma 2022 which has wowed crowds in both Launceston and Hobart.
The dual city format has been a huge success by giving more Tasmanians and visitors the chance to attend the festival which is now firmly established as an iconic Tasmanian summer event.
The festival program concludes in Hobart on Monday with more Tasmanians than ever being involved both on-stage, making art and behind the scenes.
More than 300 artists and entertainers have performed across 40 venues this year with about 70 per cent being Tasmanians.
The Mona Foma team itself is also predominantly Tasmanian with all but one of the core festival roles filled by people who live in Tasmania.
More than 150 Tasmanian staff are employed on a casual or fixed-term basis for the festival, working alongside a broad range of teams from Mona.
Mona Foma 2022 is also good for business with almost all major suppliers based in Tasmania.
Of course, one of the highlights this year was the farewell tour of Midnight Oil which has been a real crowd favourite in Launceston and Hobart alike.
Congratulations to Brian Ritchie and his team at Mona Foma 2022 for another stellar festival, and the Tasmanian Liberal Government is proud to have secured the event for 2023 and 2024.
