Monash University has achieved its best-ever result in the prestigious , rising three places to equal 37th in the world.
This performance, out of the 2,000 institutions ranked globally, demonstrates the ongoing strength of Monash University’s global academic research and reputation. The University is ranked equal 4th in Australia, retaining its position from the previous year.
said Monash had improved more than 30 places since 2018, and ranked in the top 50 for the third consecutive year.
“This outstanding result recognises the extraordinary breadth and depth of Monash’s global education and research excellence, and the dedication and high calibre of our academic staff,” Professor Gardner said.
For the second year in a row, Monash achieved a ranking in all 47 subject areas covered by USNWR. The University’s highest globally-ranked subjects included 3rd in Pharmacology and Toxicology, 7th in Education and Educational Research, 16th in Polymer Science, and 17th in Economic and Business.
Latest subject ranking sees another rise in Monash’s performance
In addition to Monash’s USNWR ranking success, announced on 25 October 2022, the University has also improved its performance in all 11 subject areas covered in the , released on 26 October.
Monash now ranks within the top 100 in all THE-ranked subject areas, with five ranked in the top 50.
The University’s highest ranked subject, Education, climbed six places to rank 14th in the world. Business and Economics improved by 14 places to 39th, while Law improved by 39 places to rank 41st and enter the top 50 for the first time.
Computer Science soared 36 places to rank 57thin the world, while Psychology jumped from the ranking band of 151-171 to 54th.

Monash’s results in the USNWR Best Global Universities and THE World University Rankings by Subject follows the University’s strongest-ever performance in the , released earlier this month, in which Monash entered the top 50 for the first time, climbing 13 places to rank 44th in the world out of the 1,799 global universities included.
The University also ranked 57th globally in the , following the University’s number one ranking for Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the .
