Monash University is now a top-50 university in the prestigious 2024 QS World University Rankings (WUR), achieving a rating as the 42nd ranked university globally.
Soaring 15 places, Monash entered the QS World University Rankings top 50 for the first time, confirming the University’s status as a leading international university with a global network and diverse student and staff population, as well as exemplifying excellence in education and research.
The 20th edition of the QS World Rankings highlights the importance of sustainability, employability and research collaborations, all which align to Monash University’s Strategic Plan, .
said this year’s result demonstrates Monash’s ongoing commitment to excellence in research and education, as well as the University’s strategic vision.
“Monash University’s Strategic Plan, addresses the most significant global challenges of our time – climate change, geopolitical security and thriving communities – and Monash’s performance in the QS World University Rankings reflects our dedication to these challenges and our strategic focus to deliver excellence in research and education. This is a remarkable achievement and a credit to the entire Monash community,” she said.
Monash’s overall standing in the QS World University Rankings has grown steadily since 2015 with an overall improvement of 28 places. For the fourth consecutive year, Monash has achieved perfect scores in both the international students and international faculty categories.
“This strong performance reflects our success in attracting international students and academics to study and work across our global campuses, which leads to an inclusive environment where the diversity of our community is respected and celebrated,” said Professor Gardner.
Monash also leapt 32 places in the citations per faculty category, exhibiting our continued dedication to research excellence.
“This standing highlights our capacity to make a positive difference to some of the world’s most pressing issues,” Professor Gardner said.
“Through our ongoing research and education, and in collaboration with government, industry, alumni, donors and community, we are fostering the next generation of thought leaders to find solutions and deliver exemplary education.”
This result follows Monash’s exceptional achievement in the latest US News and World Report Best Global Universities Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, in which we placed =37th and 44th respectively, as well as confirming Monash’s place in the top 50 across a broad range of subjects in the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
