Tasmania has been named the nation’s healthiest State to live, and Hobart as the healthiest capital city to live, based on a new ranking published by public health researchers at Monash University.
Researchers combined data on a dozen factors contributing to health such as air quality, access to green spaces, temperature and socioeconomic factors, as well as rates of cardiovascular disease and other indicators.
Deputy Premier, Guy Barnett, welcomed this latest research which shows that the Tasmanian Government’s plan is working.
“Our Government continues our efforts to ensure that Tasmanians have every opportunity to lead healthy and happy lives,” the Deputy Premier said.
“Whether its our pristine waterways or world-class national parks, coupled with the significant investments into preventative health measures – Tasmania is leading the way in being the best place to live, work and raise a family.
“We welcome this report and want to ensure we are working to maintain Tasmania in this position.
“Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is continuing to deliver results for Tasmanians and I am proud to see it is having a positive result for Tasmanians.”
