Monash University has risen five places to be ranked 37th globally among 1503 institutions in the prestigious 2025 QS World University Rankings.
This cements Monash as a top-50 university with an unprecedented global network of campuses and locations.
Monash is ranked 5th in Australia, excelling in international staff and student diversity to achieve a perfect score for the fifth consecutive year. In sustainability, Monash placed 23rd worldwide.
Monash University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering, said any incremental improvement in ranking within the top-50 is a significant achievement.
“For Monash to have climbed five places this year demonstrates the excellent quality of our research, education and impact. Monash has a distinctive and strong global reputation reflecting the dedication and expertise of the entire Monash community,” said Professor Pickering.
“Rankings are an indicator of excellence, and our latest results are great news for our students and alumni, enhancing their reputation in a competitive global employment market, potentially unlocking greater opportunities.

The QS World University Rankings methodology measures academic performance, employer reputation, faculty student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, international student ratio, international research network, employment outcomes and sustainability.
Monash’s overall standing in the QS World University Rankings has grown steadily since 2015 with an overall improvement of 33 places. Positive scores in employment reputation (up six places) and international research network (up eight places) have also contributed to this year’s ranking.
Monash University consistently ranks among the world’s best tertiary institutions.
The University strengthened its position as a global leader of change climbing to 21st globally in the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and 23rd in the world in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024.
