Monitor Bill Passes Parliament

The Child Safety Reform Implementation Monitor Bill 2024 has passed the Tasmanian Parliament.

The Bill has established an independent reform monitor to oversee and report on the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, said the monitor is set to perform a critical role.

“This independent monitor will fulfil a critical role in this process, ensuring that transparency and independent oversight over a highly sensitive and important issue,” the Attorney-General said.

“The Bill sets out the objectives and functions of the monitor, the relevant skills and experience required, as well as terms of appointment.

“Safeguarding Tasmania’s children and young people is one of our highest priorities, and a key component of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.”
