More business support than ever before

Melton City Council is helping more local businesses improve their performance than ever before, reaching a milestone of more than 600 members in the Venture Melton Business Network.

The figure makes the network one of the most connected and supported business communities in Victoria.

Dedicated to supporting and guiding businesses to excel and thrive locally, it brings like-minded professionals and industry experts together to network and connect, pursue professional development opportunities, and learn through workshops and special events.

To help as many local businesses as possible manage the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, Council has been providing free memberships to all local businesses, giving them access to:

  • a new online business resource hub
  • mentoring, training and webinars
  • regular updates on City of Melton business initiatives
  • exclusive member discount with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce

City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said it was rewarding to see so many professionals in the network making the most of the resources, advice and networking opportunities at what was a challenging time for local businesses.

“We now have more diverse ideas, opinions and experiences from so many different business owners. It’s strengthening networking and learning opportunities like never before,” Cr Carli said.

“To share ideas and insights with professionals outside of your own business is so valuable, and that’s exactly why we created the Venture Melton Business Network.

“We’ve seen local businesses grow, challenge themselves, be inspired by others and achieve so much more by connecting with each other and challenging themselves.

“Now more than ever, we want as many local businesses to benefit from the Venture Melton Business Network and continue to thrive.”

To boost support for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Council has added even more online support services for network members including webinars on adapting to disruption, and on digital customer experience, as well as connecting members via an exclusive Facebook group.

The free mentoring service has also been popular, with business owners getting support from industry experts to work through any issues they’ve been experiencing.

In addition, Council’s own economic development officers have been contacting businesses directly to better understand and respond to their needs, and to connect them to support programs across all levels of government.
