The Allan Labor Government is a step closer to delivering hundreds more homes and jobs in the heart of Dandenong.
Melbourne-based developer Capital Alliance has been given the green light to deliver a key stage of the Revitalising Central Dandenong Initiative – after the Labor Government approved a Planning Scheme Amendment to support the development of sites 11-15. .
This stage of the development is set to deliver a new Little India precinct, approximately 470 new homes, 2,500 square metres of community space and new commercial and retail spaces, including a new supermarket and food market hall.
The development and construction of this phase will inject $600 million into the local Dandenong economy, including sustaining approximately 2,600 construction jobs.
Development Victoria will now support Capital Alliance in finalising the Development Plan which will be subject to final approval.
Initiated by the Labor Government in 2006, Revitalising Central Dandenong is expected to attract more than $1.2 billion in private sector investment, while sustaining up to 5,000 jobs and enhancing Dandenong’s appeal as a great place to live, work and visit.
When the Metro Tunnel opens a year ahead of schedule in 2025, Dandenong will be serviced by the Metro Tunnel, creating capacity to deliver more trains, more often on the Cranbourne/Pakenham Line and providing faster connections to jobs, hospitals and education precincts.
