A nutritional pet food producer and supplier is expanding its national pawprint in Victoria, boosting the state’s leading food manufacturing sector and creating more than 100 local jobs.
Lyka Pet Food has established a new $16 million flagship premium pet food manufacturing facility and national distribution centre in Dandenong South.
The new facility includes new production lines and advanced, automated equipment that is the first of its kind in Australia, enhancing efficiency and nutrient retention.
The facility includes a national distribution centre that will enable up to 4 times the current distribution of the product, improving delivery times, reducing food miles and increasing the company’s ability to supply the pet food across Australia.
The company will source many of its ingredients from local suppliers in the region, generating millions of dollars in value for Victoria’s supply chain partners, including agricultural producers and logistics providers.
Lyka Pet Food is an Australian pet food manufacturer operating through an eCommerce platform direct to consumers, offering fresh, sustainable and human-grade meals for pets based on veterinary and nutrition advice.
In recent years, there has been a surge in pet ownership, with 69% of households now embracing a furry family member, as reported by the leading industry association, Animal Medicines Australia.
Victoria has the largest and most established food and beverage manufacturing sector in the nation, valued at around $40 billion and employing more than 77,000 people.
