The Andrews Labor Government is supporting more of the projects that matter to communities and creating jobs for locals through the latest round of funding from the flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing today announced 38 projects in rural and regional communities that will share in $20 million in funding from the Labor Government.
A $3 million grant to the Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre development project will help deliver new exercise pools, a gym, community spaces, cafe and allied health suites.
This funding builds on the Government’s $13.5 million commitment towards the centre’s development through the Local Sports Grants initiative and the Growing Suburbs Fund. The project is set to create 226 construction jobs and 31 ongoing roles upon completion to help build community confidence in the water.
Another recipient is the Camperdown to Timboon Rail Trail bridge replacement project, which has received $475,000 to upgrade foot bridges, improving safety of the trail and the experience for all trail users.
In Gippsland, the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation has received just under $1 million to build an outdoor amphitheatre and yarning circle for the Gunaikurnai people to perform cultural ceremonies and other activities.
The Unlocking Housing Terang project received more than $605,000 which will deliver a new road to an undeveloped area of residential zoned land. This new land will provide 10 new residential lots for immediate development.
From health precinct upgrades in Anglesea to the construction of a fuel station in Murrayville, the Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund supports community projects, creates new jobs, and delivers infrastructure projects that help regional and rural Victoria continue to connect and grow.
Since 2015, the Fund has backed all of rural and regional Victoria’s 48 local councils and businesses across the state to kickstart over 1,000 projects that have created 13,000 jobs.
The Fund is part of the Labor Government’s record investment of $36 billion in rural and regional Victoria since 2015. For more information on the 38 project recipients visit .
