More jobs as record $12.9 billion infrastructure pipeline continues to roll out

The Marshall Liberal Government is continuing to deliver job creating projects through South Australia’s record $12.9 billion pipeline of infrastructure works.

Today the first sod is being turned on the $20 million upgrade of Golden Grove Road, creating another 65 jobs and delivering on a key election commitment.

The massive $12.9 billion pipeline of infrastructure works is the most over a four-year period in South Australia’s history and will underpin thousands of jobs across the construction and other industries.

“The Liberal Government is building roads and upgrading intersections that will bust congestion, reduce travel times and create more jobs,” said Premier Marshall.

“We have built a record pipeline of infrastructure works that will underpin thousands of local jobs for years to come.

“This $20 million Golden Grove Road upgrade will create 65 jobs, reduce travel times and improve safety for residents in the north-eastern suburbs.”

The Golden Grove Upgrade Project is being delivered in two stages, with major works for Stage One expected to be completed by mid-2020.

“The long-awaited upgrade of Golden Grove Road will help improve safety and bust congestion once complete,” Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll.

“The Marshall Government is delighted that the local Tea Tree Gully council has also come on board with a $1.1 million contribution towards local government infrastructure, including footpaths.”

Member for King Paula Luethen said she was proud that the Marshall Liberal Government was delivering on another election commitment for the people of King.

“The upgrade of Golden Grove Road is a Marshall Liberal Government election commitment that will ease traffic congestion as well as improve safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians,” said Ms Luethen.

“Golden Grove Road is a key arterial road in the north-eastern suburbs and provides an important link in the metropolitan road network that connects our local community.

“The road is also a major commuter route for the expanding residential area of the north-eastern suburbs.”

The Golden Grove Upgrade Project will upgrade a 3.4km section of Golden Grove Road between One Tree Hill Road and Park Lake Drive.

The project upgrade will be delivered in two stages, with Stage One works from One Tree Hill Road to the north side (Kunzea Way) of the signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/The Grove Way/Yatala Vale Road. The stage One works include:

  • A new roundabout at the junction of Golden Grove Road and Hancock Road;
  • Sheltered right turn lanes at most un-signalised junctions;
  • On-road bike lanes in each direction;
  • Improved pedestrian facilities including new footpath and pedestrian crossing facilities; and,
  • Indented bus bays.

The project will also upgrade kerb and gutter, drainage, targeted road resurfacing, as well as new and upgraded road lighting.

The timing of Stage Two works along with the upgrade of the signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/The Grove Way/Yatala Vale Road will be determined at a later date, subject to the outcome of the North East Public Transport Study to investigate future public transport services and infrastructure in the North-Eastern suburbs.
