The Andrews Labor Government is continuing its unprecedented investment in our youngest Victorians, with more kindergarten places on the way for Melbourne’s growing western suburbs.
Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep Ingrid Stitt today announced $5.75 million for two kindergarten projects in Wyndham which will create more than 120 new kindergarten places – bringing more world-class early years education closer to home for local families.
The redevelopment of the Mossfiel Integrated Family Centre (interim name) in Hoppers Crossing will deliver up to 83 new places, supported by a $3 million investment to modernise the service.
These upgrades will include three modular kindergarten rooms, providing adaptable learning spaces for some of our littlest Victorians to play, explore and learn the skills that will set them up for the best start in life.
A further $2.75 million will support the redevelopment of the Jamieson Way Kindergarten in Point Cook. The facility will be expanded to three rooms so more local families have access to a quality kindergarten program – with space for an extra 40 children to attend the service each day.
Both projects are part of a massive $47 million Building Blocks Partnership with Wyndham City Council that will create more than 3,600 local kindergarten places across 17 early childhood services by 2029.
Since 2021, the Labor Government has entered Building Blocks partnerships with 10 local councils to build 69 new and expanded kindergartens – creating more than 9,250 new kindergarten places across the state.
Through our nation-leading $14 billion Best Start, Best Life reforms, the Labor Government is transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money and support parents – especially women – to return to work or study if they choose.
