More Labor whinging, but still no plan

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Finance

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has a strong plan in place to rebuild 15,000 Tasmanian jobs and activate $3.1 billion of construction activity across the state.

Tasmania is not immune from the global shockwaves of COVID-19, but we came into this pandemic in a position of economic strength and that enables us to invest in measures to rebuild our state – the CommSec Report released yesterday confirmed this.

While David O’Byrne and Labor wave about their sham-plan, let’s be clear – it’s a simple copy and paste, it deliberately avoids any costings, it does not specify how many jobs it would create and it is merely a pamphlet of thought bubbles and red toner.

Tasmanians have not forgotten that it was Labor in Government that significantly under invested in industry and infrastructure without a plan to take Tasmania forward.

We rebuilt Tasmania’s economy to be number one in the country and we will do it again.

We know COVID-19 has significantly disrupted our lives, but it’s how we respond that matters.

That’s why we have a plan in action for Tasmania’s economic and social recovery. A plan that is costed, that will deliver 15,000 jobs, provide Tasmanians the skills and training they need and stimulate economic activity across our state.

Meanwhile, David O’Byrne vehemently opposes our decision to take our ship replacement program to local and national input!
