A Place Design Brief to guide the future development and design aspects of the Lawson Mixed Use site has been published today.
The Place Design Brief sets out community aspirations to ensure that the Lawson Mixed Use site can be developed into a liveable, green and vibrant hub that supports the local neighbourhood.
The Brief is the culmination of feedback from stakeholders and community forming an important part of the tender documentation for the site which is to be released next week.
“It’s important that Canberrans views are placed first as we co-design our future public spaces together,” Minister for Housing and Suburban Development, Yvette Berry MLA said.
“Throughout consultation, the community particularly raised the need for thriving retail options. We have heard that loud and clear.
“We also heard that a strong community presence, an ease of getting around and embracing Lake Ginninderra are central elements of what the community wants to see in the future at this site.”
Lawson is expected to grow to nearly 5000 residents in the next few years.
“I look forward to welcoming future residents to the Belconnen region and showing them what an amazing area it is,” Minister Berry said.
Developers interested in submitting their proposals and concept designs for the site must respond to the Place Design Brief, amongst other criteria. The Place Design Brief is available online at .
