More than $10,000 worth of stolen parcels located in Mount Waverly

A joint investigation by Victoria Police and Australia Post has resulted in more than $10,000 worth of stolen parcels being located last month.

An investigation was launched after it was identified that a large number of packages were going missing around the Rosebud, Rye, Tootgarook, Portsea and Sorrento areas during August to October.

A search warrant was executed by Glen Waverley and Rosebud uniform police at a 24-year-old Mount Waverley man’s home where 67 packages were seized on 21 October.

The items included designer shoes, children’s toys, power tools, kitchen appliances, fitness equipment, homewares, cosmetics, computer accessories, high-end liquor, personalised gifts and electronic devices.

The Sri Lankan national was charged with criminal theft and theft of mail articles.

He was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates Court on 20 July.

Police have begun the process of delivering the packages to their intended recipients, including a grandmother who happy to receive a backyard soccer set she purchased for her grandson to use during lockdown.
