Portland Crime Investigation Unit detectives seized more than 100 cannabis plants in Portland yesterday.
Police attended a property in Jubilee Court for a welfare check on a man just before 2pm.
It is understood the man was not present when police attended.
Officers conducted a search of the backyard to look for the man when they subsequently located more than 100 cannabis plants.
A crime scene was established while police applied for a search warrant.
The 62-year-old man arrived home about 2.40pm and was arrested by police.
He was charged with cultivate a narcotic plant and possess cannabis.
He has been bailed to appear at Portland Magistrates’ Court on 30 April.
