Six people have been arrested and more than $100K worth of methylamphetamine seized following a major seven-month drug trafficking investigation in Melbourne’s north.
Throughout the investigation and six search warrants executed over the last week, Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have seized more than 370 grams of methylamphetamine which they allege was being sold to the community.
Police also arrested six people during the Reservoir, Lalor and Epping searches which took place Friday 15 March and Wednesday 21 March with assistance from Australian Border Force detection dogs, the Clandestine Laboratory Squad and other local detective units.
Also located during the seizures was more than $38,000 in cash, a baton, Taser, imitation firearm, slingshot, money counter, allegedly stolen identification, and several mobile phones.
A 39-year-old Reservoir man was last Friday charged with 23 offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing an imitation firearm and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
A 28-year-old Reservoir man was on Wednesday charged with 12 offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, possessing steroids, dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
A 39-year-old Epping woman has been charged with eight offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime and possessing identification information.
All three were remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 7 June 2024.
A 33-year-old Lalor man has been charged with trafficking methylamphetamine and possessing methylamphetamine and cannabis and was bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 22 July.
A 28-year-old Dandenong man and 30-year-old Lalor woman were released pending summons.
