Victoria’s jobs growth is the highest among the states with more than 478,000 jobs created since the Andrews Labor Government was elected in November 2014.
According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics Labour Force data, 68 per cent of those 478,800 jobs are full time.
The data shows that Victoria’s employment grew by 125,200 people in the year to May and by 28,600 people in May alone.
It shows Victoria is the nation’s engine room when it comes to jobs growth, with Victoria’s unemployment rate falling in May to 4.6 per cent – well below the national average of 5.2 per cent.
Since November 2014, Victoria’s unemployment rate has decreased by 2.1 percentage points, the largest decline of the states.
