More visitors to Wilsons Promontory will soon be able to see iconic Australian animals in their natural habitat, with an upgrade of the popular Prom Wildlife Walk now underway.
Part of the $23 million project the works will resurface the 2km walk, making it more accessible for visitors with limited mobility.
Emus, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats are regularly spotted grazing along this popular walk, so interpretive signage will be installed to help visitors better understand the wildlife they see.
The project will also improve carparking with formal universal-access parking bays, and new bollards will be installed to keep vehicles off the area’s sensitive vegetation.
This project will allow more people to witness these special animals and experience part of the Prom’s amazing natural and cultural landscape.
The works are expected to take approximately 4 weeks to complete, with the upgraded walk expected to reopen on Friday 6 December, subject to weather conditions.
