Officers who have demonstrated exemplary dedication and service of their community have had their efforts recognised at the Moreton Police District Medal Presentation held today, with the awarding of the Queensland Police Valour Medal, Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal, various clasps and more.

The awards presentation, held at Sports Central in Caboolture, recognised several officers for their bravery, including Senior Constable Amy Dallimore and Senior Constable Randall Jurd.

Senior Constable Dallimore and Jurd were awarded the Queensland Police Valour Medal in recognition of their exceptional bravery and actions when responding to an urgent call for assistance relating to a stabbing at Endeavor Caravan Park, Deception Bay on March 18, 2019.

Upon arrival the officers found the offender seated with multiple weapons within reach, including a machete, a tomahawk and a large hunting knife. After attempts at communication from Senior Constables Dallimore and Jurd, the offender advanced, throwing the hunting knife at the officers, resulting in a five-centimetre laceration to Senior Constable Jurd’s calf.

The officers demonstrated extraordinary bravery in the face of danger and acted selflessly to protect the community and residents of the caravan park.

Detective Inspector Phil Hurst was awarded with the Queensland Police Exemplary Conduct Medal for his ongoing outstanding conduct as the Officer in Charge of the Sunshine Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU).

Throughout his career, Detective Inspector Hurst has displayed unyielding dedication to his work within the child protection space and his professionalism and commitment to his duty far exceeds expectations.
