Police have seized a motorbike after its rider was caught travelling 65km/h over the speed limit at Kindred in Tasmania’s north west.
Acting Inspector Martin Parker said the rider, a 43-year-old man from West Ulverstone, was first detected travelling at 105km/h in a 60km/h zone on Kindred Road near Forth last Thursday.
“He was then recorded travelling at speeds of up to 165km/h, and police intercepted him near the Swamp Road intersection,” he said.
“The Harley Davidson motorbike was seized by police, and the man will be proceeded against for speeding offences.”
“Our speed limits are in place for a reason, and disobeying these puts lives at risk.”
“Motorcycles are over represented in serious and fatal traffic crashes and travelling at speeds such as these could have had serious consequences.”
“Police will continue to patrol our roads and enforce the rules, to help keep everyone safe.”
