A teenager has been charged after a police officer was allegedly hit by a motorcycle being ridden onto a train platform at Warwick Farm yesterday.
Officers attached to Liverpool City Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling Remembrance Avenue just before 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 30 October 2024), when they saw two people on a motorcycle with its registration plates covered.
Police attempted to stop the motorcycle; however, the rider and pillion passenger allegedly left the scene.
A short time later, police saw the motorcycle near the entrance to Warwick Farm Railway Station where the pillion passenger dismounted.
The motorcyclist allegedly rode into the station and onto the platform.
Police will allege in court the rider accelerated towards police, hitting an officer.
The rider, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested; when searched police will allege he was also in possession of a knife.
The youth was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with eight offences,
• Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
• Use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc
• Assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm
• Custody of a knife in a public place
• Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
• Drive motor vehicle whilst licence suspended
• Use Class A vehicle number plate obscured/defaced, and
• Not stop vehicle when directed.
The teen was granted strict conditional bail to appear in a children’s court on Thursday 14 November 2024.
The constable was treated for minor injuries.
