A man was detected drink driving near a western suburbs school during Operation Stop Drink Drug Drive this morning.
Just after 9am today, Monday 18 May, a patrol pulled over a vehicle for a mobile driver test.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from the western suburbs, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.061.
He was issued with an expiation notice for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.
Officers will notify the Department for Child Protection, as the man had a child in the car when he was pulled over, and had just dropped other children at school.
Operation Stop Drink Drug Drive was conducted across the state earlier today during peak school drop off and pick up times.
The night before the traffic operation launched, a motorcyclist was found drink driving with a disqualified licence.
At around 9:30pm on Sunday 17 May police detected a motorcycle driving at 141kmph in a 100kmph zone on the Southern Expressway in O’Halloran Hill.
The 31-year-old driver of the motorcycle was followed after he failed to stop for police.
Consequently, he was arrested on the Southern Expressway in Hackham West and his motorcycle has been impounded for 28 days.
He also returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.090 and was charged with drink driving, exceed speed, fail to stop and driving with a disqualified licence.
