Mount Augustus development improves visitor experience

  • New reception, bar, restaurant, and retail store at Mount Augustus Tourist Park set to stimulate the Upper Gascoyne economy
  • Supported by McGowan Government’s Regional Economic Development Grants
  • The Mount Augustus Tourist Park is gearing up for a busy tourist season after facilities funded by the McGowan Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant program increased visitor numbers.

The McGowan Government provided a $100,000 RED Grant to the Mount Augustus Tourist Park to help unlock new opportunities.

The new kitchen, bar, and dining area will provide visitors with a richer tourism experience.

A reception and tour booking facility allow visitors easy access to local tours and experiences, extending visitor length of stay and spend in the Upper Gascoyne economy.

The tourist park is one of 24 projects funded through the REDs program in the Gascoyne region to date.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“Through the RED Grant program, we have supported a remote tourist park to grow not only their own business but promote others in the local economy.

“These new facilities have increased the park’s capability to host large scale events such as the iconic Gascoyne Food Festival, Australia’s Biggest BBQ.

“This facility adds a whole new element for visitors to this unique and beautiful part of our state, helping to grow the local economy by creating a destination that supports visitors to stay longer and spend more.”
